Creating a House a Home: A Starter Story

Jeff and i were motivated by Urban Compass to share our first home with you! and of course i was excited to talk about our first place, duhhh. Urban Compass is awesome! they really make it easy to help you find the RIGHT place to live and call it YOUR HOME! who doesn't want that?! i mean you can live anywhere but it's so nice to have a place that you call home and not just some house.

Well if you have visited our blog before you have seen our first place together already! we loved that little place of ours and what we were able to do with it. but we have recently moved back to Boise and are in our new place! jeff and i have been able to do little projects here and there but this place has a lot more work! we are just finishing up our daughters nursery and i am in love with how it is turning out! you'll have to make sure you come back to follow along :).
since i don't have new pictures to show of our current place i shared some from our starter place!

ok. yes i know i screwed up on this quote because i missed a letter....but hey i am human! aren't we all haha? one way to make a house a home. fill it with things that you LOVE!!!
before...blehh. and look at that mess of cords! to make a house a home definitely learn to ORGANIZE. it goes by a long wayyyyyyy! and keep it clean! so that's just what we did!

before
our place was really dark at night with only one light. so i went and bought a lamp...again something that i fell in love with haha. it made such a difference! first it brought in more light, added some volume and bulk, but not too much bulk, and some height to this corner of the house with end table.

remember that when you get into your new place, BE EXCITED! you just got into either your own place that you just bought with your grown up pants, or your renting a cute little place that you're ready to make it your own. fill it with things that you love, but keep in mind to not have too much clutter & keep it clean. stay organize with your junk. buy some folders or little paper/magazine holders and place it with a purpose! by just throwing it wherever you're creating a mess...which we don't want! but if it has a purpose you will actually use. who woulda thunk?! use things you buy? i know crazy talk haha. and lastly!!!!! surround yourself with loved ones! a home is something to be shared with and what better way then to share it with friends and family. ok now get to cleaning and getting to decorating so you can throw that awesome welcoming home party!
also here is a sneak peak of Olivia's Nursery. ;)
don't forget to come back to see the rest!!!

GoodBye Twenty-Fourteen!

if i really knew that one song well enough i would sing it for you but i don't. but imagine that song that everyone sings and plays after the ball drops! wow, i seriously can't even think of it. anywhooooo! HAPPY NEW YEARS!!
what a year it has been. it's probably been one of my years of my life, i haven't had a lot of years of life and truly haven't lived it yet, but this year is definitely the top of them all! i have been married to my extremely attractive husband for over 18 months now, was pregnant basically all year, had the most beautiful baby alive (seriously she's gorgeous), we moved back to Boise, learned a lot of valuable lessons, started a new career path then became a mom & finally started to settle into our own place again! this year has been amazing and has been filled with great people and opportunities!
we are so excited for this new year to come and embrace everything that we can! whether that's doing loads of house projects, making new hobbies, getting our big butts into shape, or meeting new friends! we want to enjoy it alllllllllllllllll!
i am now going to go cuddle with my wittle family and enjoy this last hour of 2014 and welcome in 2015!
p.s: thanks rach for taking these pics :)

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays! and let me tell you they have been pretty happy indeed!!! how could they not really? i have a pretty good life, shelter over my head, food in my belly, great support from our awesome friends, a loving family, a happy & healthy baby, and the most amazing hardworking husband. throughout the year it gets kinda hard to remember all the good in your life until you stop and pause for moment, which is REALLY sad but so true. i can't be the only one that gets caught in the hustle and bustle of life?! am i? i sure hope not! but that's why i love this season, you really get to just have those moments more regular where you can just stop and pause. sometimes it's when your standing in line to buy those presents that you just NEED, or making dinner/cleaning the house for family, maybe taking a quick shower to get ready for the next holiday activity. but we all have those moments of reflection, & that's what makes the season more exciting and meaningful. when we can remember what we grateful for and the real reason for the season. our beautiful savior. that's what ALL of this is about!
last night as we were reading the stories that read every year my mom had something to say after reading the one in the scriptures. she said, how luck are we? our Heavenly Father gave us a gift, the first gift. His beloved gift. Baby Jesus didn't come in any spectacular way but a simple one. just how we all were. there wasn't some big bow on His head saying i'm here, now come greet and all that stuff. nope. he was laid in a manager in beautiful swaddling blankets made my Mary. how nice it is to know that our Savior is just like us. we are just as much loved in His eyes as Christ was and is. i love our Savior and what He was able to do for us and has given us.
i hope everyone had a very merry christmas and was able to spend it with loved ones, & if not at least able to feel our Heavenly Fathers love for you! because He does.
