Lumia 1020

Julia and I love to take pictures. We have always had a huge love for photos. We like the colors, the views, and also the way you feel when you take a really good looking picture. I'm an avid reader of anything technology. I enjoy reading technology blogs like Engadget, Gizmodo, and Cnet. So I'm always up on all of the new stuff. {he literally checks it like 10x a day, no joke!! jeff tells me all about the latest new things. even if i don't know what he saying i think it's kinda interesting to see how far the tech world has come & how it is still growing.} Last year as I got off my mission, around this same time, I had a choice to make. I needed to get a phone. I was looking in the market for a cell phone and I knew that I didn't want an iphone because I don't really like Apple. So my choices were either an Android or a Windows Phone. {what about a blackberry haha? he hates those just as much as the iphone!} The flagship Windows phone at the time was the Lumia 920. It was sleek and I really liked the look of Windows Phone and especially Live Tiles. So I got it and immediately fell in love with everything about it!

I was really surprised how little apps they had at the time a year ago but I was willing to go with it and I'm so happy with my decision to stay with Windows Phone! It's just a great phone. So this last summer my wife and I were teasing eachother in the parking lot of KMart and I may have made her drop her old Android phone. The screen shattered and there was no way to save it. It was pretty bad. We had a bad experience with it because you can't get any information off the phone once the screen is broken. {this was the second phone that we had to replace of mine within like 6 months! :( }We couldn't even plug it into a computer and use it as a usb drive and get the pictures that we had taken together since we were married. I was upset. So we were in the market for a new cell phone. At the time I had been reading about the new Windows Phone the Lumia 1020. The beset camera phone on the market and if Julia waited for just a few short weeks we could have her with a sweet Windows Phone. All I had to do was sell it to her and get her to learn about the goodness that is Windows Phone.  {he was very persistent! like every morning i would wake up & he had something new to say about it} She used my phone off and on the next few weeks and we went in to take a look at a few different phones over the next few weeks. She really liked the Galaxy Note II and also the Galaxy SIV. When we got to the store we looked for a long time at different phones and finally Julia decided that she wanted the Lumia 1020. I was thrilled. Not only was it a great phone but I was going to get to play with it! I was excited.

Here is what Julia says about her phone after about 3 months...

"to be honest, i was really hesitant to get this phone because i had a droid before. that's what i had & was comfortable with. making the switch was actually really easy tho! the only thing that i didn't like about the whole thing was that i couldn't have a background pic. but it really doesn't even matter! the live tiles are really cool, i feel like i am always up to date on whatever i need. also it is very user friendly, like i am a complete dummy when it comes to technology but i was able to use it quite easily. and finally the camera is awesome!! to those iphone users who think your camera is better, it simply is not! with it's 41 pixel camera, i know that i can capture amazing pictures at anytime anywhere. i love how vivid the colors can get & how pretty they always turn out! my phone is so cool, & i am still learning so many new things about it! make the switch to a windows phone, you won't regret it!!!"

So there you have it we got the phone and now we absolutely love it. We love the pictures it takes and the things that we can do with it. We used to take our DSLR all over the place with us to take pictures. Now I hardly ever use the DSLR unless I really want to get really good pictures. Honestly, for just a quick point and shoot the 1020 does the best job! Better than any other point and shoot I have ever used and better than any other camera I have ever held. We have been really impressed with it. Many of the photos on our blog are going to be shot with Julia's Lumia 1020. We will talk about it a little more over the next few years and keep people up to date with our pros and cons of just running around with a phone as our camera.
